Fatally shot by a terrorist sniper at a vehicle checkpoint in Belcoo, County Fermanagh.
On 14th November 1992, Reserve Constable Corbett was on a joint RUC and Army patrol in the village of Belcoo, County Fermanagh.
After leaving the RUC station about 11.20pm, the foot patrol moved towards the border to establish a cross-border vehicle checkpoint while conducting rolling vehicle checks as they moved through the village.
About 11:30pm, the patrol came under attack by a terrorist sniper and Alan was hit once in the head from gunfire believed to have come from across the border with the Irish Republic.
He was medically evacuated to hospital but died from his injuries approximately four hours later.
Reserve Constable Corbett joined the part-time RUC in 1986 and moved to the full-time reserve RUC in 1990. In December 1991 he was transferred to Belcoo.
