Roll of Honour Citation

Found dead having been murdered by an escaped prisoner whom he tried to arrest.

Constable Tiffany was found murdered on the floor of a barn, adjoining the house of a man that the officer had previously arrested for robbery, but whom had subsequently escaped.

On attending the man’s house at midnight to re-arrest him, but finding the building empty, the officer was about to depart when he discovered an adjoining entrance to a hay-loft.

It is believed that Tiffany was, at this point, confronted by the man and thrown to the barn floor, where he was found with evidence of strangulation and multiple fractures to one kneecap.
