While supervising a fire escape being fixed in Duke Street, and on testing the ladder while at the top the structure overbalanced throwing him to his death.

Died from the injuries he sustained after being thrown from the top of a ladder when it overbalanced as he tested it while supervising the repair to a fire escape at Duke Street Police Station.
