One of three officers who drowned when their boat took on water as a gale developed while returning from Bere Island.

One of three officers, stationed in Castletownbere, who drowned when their boat took on water as a gale developed while returning from Bere Island, where there had been reports of a suspicious death. It was believed their heavy police uniforms and boots contributed to their drowning.
