Shot and killed, alongside three colleagues, when their mobile patrol was ambushed by a large terrorist unit at Glenwood House, between Sixmilebridge and Broadford, County Clare. Two other officers died from their injuries on 25th and 31st January. Sergeant Mulloy was a holder of the Constabulary Medal for Gallantry.
