Shot dead two days after escaping a terrorist ambush on his patrol.

Caught and shot dead two days after escaping the ambush on his auxiliary division mobile patrol by a large terrorist unit at Dus a’ Bharraigh, in the townland of Shanacashel, Kilmichael Parish, near Macroom, County Cork, when a District Inspector, a Temporary Constable and fourteen other Temporary Cadets were killed.

He served in the Royal Flying Corps during the Great War.
