Fatally shot, alongside a colleague, when their patrol was ambushed by terrorists near Greenhills, Kill, County Kildare.
Died in Dr. Steevens’ Hospital, Dublin, after being fatally shot, alongside Constable Patrick Haverty, who died 10 days earlier, when their four-man patrol was ambushed by a terrorist unit of thirty-four men near Greenhills, Kill, County Kildare, as they cycled from their barracks to Naas to protect the residence of an RIC Inspector.
The two Constables who survived the ambush both resigned from the RIC within a month.
