Having set out from Mallins Barracks on patrol with a Sub-Constable he was later found beaten and stabbed to death in Ballywilliam. The Sub-Constable committed suicide and it was held that he had murdered Constable McNamara.

Found dead in Ballywilliam having been beaten and stabbed to death by a Sub-Constable with whom he had set out on patrol from Mallins Barracks and who subsequently committed suicide.
