Shot and killed at his own home by a man he had seen stealing timber a few hours earlier.
Having finished patrolling his beat PC Davey heard muffled voices coming from a building site and went to investigate. He immediately recognised the men who were stealing timber but they fled before he could arrest them. The officer finished his duty and went home to Acton. A few hours later he opened his door and was confronted by one of the thieves from the building site who shot him in the head.
