Circumstances

Killed while operator in a police car, which crashed on an emergency call.

PC Day was on duty as the passenger within a police patrol car being driven by PC Rogers when they were dispatched to reports of burglar alarm having been activated at one of the business premises at Park Royal.

At 8.40 pm as they travelled along Coronation Road, Acton their car left the road and collided with a lamppost which collapsed onto the roof of the car trapping both officers within. Rescuers responded and both were cut free whereby PC Day died from his injuries.
