Fatally injured when a wall collapsed onto him as he viewed the remains of a building that had been destroyed by fire.
In his role as the Plain Clothes and Licensing Sergeant for Oldham Borough, Sergeant Prendergast was viewing the remains of the Majestic Club, in Bloom Street, which had been destroyed by fire, when, due to high winds, a wall collapsed onto him.
