Found drowned in a canal six days after going missing from his beat as he patrolled the banks at night.
It was believed that Sergeant Hale had tripped over one of the mooring rings and fallen in. He was last seen as he dismissed one officer from his duty at midnight on 31st May but he failed to meet another officer at 1:00am as arranged.
