Circumstances

Sergeant Smith was on duty in the evening outside the Diamon Inn when the pub closed and the patrons left. Three of the patrons walked off but returned shortly after and attacked Sergeant Smith, using stones to cause a fatal injury to the Sergeant's head by cracking his skull.

Suffered a fatal skull fracture after being stoned by three drunken men he had warmed earlier in the evening while on duty outside the Diamond Inn as the Public House closed. Those same men returned shortly thereafter and attacked the officer.
