Circumstances

Having finished duty he drove to the Irish border, parked his van and walked across on foot to visit his girlfriend. As he later tried to start his van he was ambushed, abducted and shot multiple times.

Constable Anderson was stationed at Rosslea and after finishing duty he drove his van to the Fermanagh-Monaghan border to visit his girlfriend who lived across the border in County Monaghan.

He was on foot on his way back to his van when he was overpowered by his assailants, dragged up a laneway and shot repeatedly.
