Ceremony of Remembrance 2026
On Tuesday, 28th July, we came together at a special Ceremony of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum to honour the courage, service and sacrifice of police officers and staff who gave their lives in the service of others.
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the dedication of the UK Police Memorial in 2021, in the presence of His Majesty The King, then HRH The Prince of Wales. Since then, it has welcomed almost two million visitors.
Tribute Wall
Our Tribute Wall is a significant new development designed to complement the Police Roll of Honour, the physical UK Police Memorial, and services of commemoration like National Police Memorial Day.
This is a lasting online space for reflection and remembrance invites families, colleagues, serving and retired officers, and members of the public to participate in honouring fallen officers and staff.
By sharing a personal tribute, you help ensure they are remembered not only for the circumstances of their death, but for the people they were, the lives they touched, and the enduring impact they had on their families, colleagues, and communities.

Not a day passes I don’t think of you and miss the time we never had together.
The force lost a great officer and I lost my wife
As long as I live you will never die x -
Daniel was my fiancé, my best friend, and the person who made the world feel safe and full of possibility. At 25, he had a heart bigger than his uniform and a smile that could steady anyone’s nerves.
He was taken from us in 2010 on his way to the job he loved — serving as a police officer, helping people, and making a difference every single day.
Daniel lived with compassion, loyalty, and a gentle strength that stays with all of us who knew him. His life was short, but his impact was lasting.
I carry him with me always.

Sadly, I didn’t know you that well when we served together in Herts but you are the maternal Grandfather of our beautiful, handsome, kind, talented Charlie, Laura and our Joe’s son. You would be so proud of the wonderful young man he has become. Wish we could have shared a pint or two to talk about him. Rest easy Ron. You will never ever be forgotten.
-
27 years you left us on the 20th June 1999, night shift that went into Father’s Day. Charlotte, Daisy lost their daddy and I a husband.
No words can describe the pain that night. We live on with you in our hearts forever PC3751 Ian Godfrey South Wales Police 💙 -
Alan Robert Wyman. My big brother. Died on duty 5/2/86 aged 30. Can’t believe it’s 40 years and you’d be 70 now. I think about you often.
You’ve missed so much. With love, Helen. -
R.I.P. Keith. I miss you friend.

Dad,
Adrian, David and I have continued your legacy to the letter. We’ve lived, we’ve laughed, we’ve all got children you never got to meet and we will forever carry your memory like we’ve done with the utmost dignity and integrity to this day.
You are missed and you are cherished. Please know that you have not been forgotten, that you are remembered and we have always been and continue to be proud of the service you gave for peace in Northern Ireland before you were killed in action.
Love always -
On behalf of the National Police Chiefs’ Council, and as Chair of the Police Arboretum Memorial Trust, I express a profound sense of gratitude to the families of the fallen. The grief and burdens you carry from the loss of your loved ones in service to communities will never be forgotten. Our policing family stands alongside you in recognition of the absence and loss from your family.
We remember our colleagues, their sacrifice, their pride in service, and their bravery in committing to a vocation that carries danger beyond every doorway.
May they rest in peace and their legacies endure.

Time is not a healer.
Grief is like puddles — sometimes they seem small and still,
and sometimes the rain comes, and they fill again. You were taken from us far too soon,
leaving a space that can never be filled. So much time has passed,
but love does not count the years.
Your memory lives on in our hearts,
in the stories we tell,
in the moments we wish you could have shared,
in the photos we have of you
and in the lives of the children you loved. We have learned to carry the grief,
but we have never stopped missing you.Forever loved.
Forever remembered.
Forever missed.Ged — January 2003
Always in our hearts -
PC 2284 – Jack Cummings.
Truly larger than life. He lived with courage, humour and a passion for helping others, and he was never happier than when serving with West Yorkshire Police as a Firearms Officer. Policing was his calling, and he gave everything to it with pride, professionalism and dedication.
To those who worked alongside him, Jack was a trusted colleague and friend. To those who loved him, he was someone who could light up any room with his presence, make people laugh when they needed it most, and leave a lasting impression wherever he went.
Jack faced life head-on, embracing every challenge and every opportunity with determination and enthusiasm. His strength, loyalty and larger-than-life personality touched countless lives and created memories that will never fade.
Though he is deeply missed every day, his legacy lives on in the people he helped, the friends he made, and the love he shared.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.

Dad, you were suddenly taken from us 17 years ago in an unexpected turn of events, you died doing the job you loved.
Your memory lives on in us your family, the charity work you were involved in and the books you researched and wrote about the local community in the first and second world war.
Your friends and colleagues have many funny stories which still make people chuckle, that was “our Dave” you would hear them say, you inspire me to write poems which I have started to share.
May your light be channelled through those who knew you, and your caring compassionate nature remembered in your achievements.
Love you to the moon and back -

In memory of Ronan. You joined the PSNI to try and make a difference to your community. A young guy, only 25 years old who had the courage to stand up and serve; cruelly taken away by faceless cowards planting a bomb under his car.
Ronan had a heart of gold, was filled with mischief, humour and great determination. He was a real character in the ‘yellows’ squad 04/10. Ronan you will never be forgotten and hopefully one day your evil killers will be caught and brought to justice. -
Tim, 25 years have passed since you went to work never to return. It’s strange to think our son is now the same age you were and always will be. We miss you every day, but your smile still shines at us from the photos we have in our homes. I see your character in our son, your joy for life in our daughter, and your blue blue eyes in the grandson you never met. You are still in our hearts and always be.. love always Sandie, Tom, Laura, Simon and Rafe xx

I still remember that terrible morning in November 2008. A young lad from Drumaness who joined the PSNI on 12th August 2007 to do a job most would be too afraid to do. You died serving our community whilst most were in their bed. For us in Drumaness, it wasn’t just a news story. It was one of our own. A son, a partner, a father a brother. You went out to protect your community and never came back.
Kevin Gorman
James Magee
Declan Greene
Kenny IrvineNever forgotten.

Fiona you left us in a hail of bullets, your memory lives on I still meet people who you helped and your fellow police officers who remember you. Your humour and presence is mentioned while your killer is never talked about. I miss you every day and the hurt never goes away but your love always remains. Every officer faces unknown danger every day you faced the worst with bravery and carried out your duty
