Circumstances

Ivan was abducted and murdered on 15 December 1973. The former RUC Detective Constable had resigned from the force the previous October. Terrorists claimed that he had been working undercover and claimed he had admitted that during interrogation and they said they had been attempting to kill him for some time. His body was found shot dead at Derrynoose, near Keady in County Armagh. The RUC said the former Detective Constable had not retained any police involvement following his resignation from the force.
